In my undergraduate studies, I focused on the history, literature, and sociology of the world's religions, learning what has motivated and intrigued people through the ages. In my master's training in counseling, I honed in on how people clarify their personal life meaning, how this process can go awry, and how a counselor helps lead a person back toward a full life.
When anxiety, depression, or relationship turbulence is your concern, we can use research-proven techniques to to decrease symptoms and increase your competence in managing day-to-day stressors. A calm, bright life can be right around the corner.
I also have experience with problem substance use across a broad range of severity. For adults, I offer counseling for alcohol moderation or abstinence, for giving up or reducing harm from recreational drug use, and for quitting tobacco. Together, we can chart a course through difficult issues and enhance each day to include health and joy.
I enjoy working with people in normal transitions, too, and with those looking to enrich their lives with a formal process of personal reflection. The counseling relationship is a safe space to express your feelings, talk through your hopes and fears, and prepare yourself emotionally for change.
